A New Lounge For Lighting Up
Padilla Cigar Lounge and Factory Opens Tuesday, October 14, 2008

By now, you’ve been to every crowded bar on Miami Beach.
You’ve even visited the loudest clubs in Downtown.

Time for a change. Introducing Padilla Cigar Lounge and Factory. Perfectly positioned on Miami’s famed Calle Ocho, Padilla Cigar Lounge is a sophisticated space with a laid back atmosphere. The perfect alternative to the usual hustle and bustle that comes with most nights out on the town, it boasts an intimate setting with plush, over-sized leather couches and a rustic feel that transports you away from the city just outside its doors.

Stop by and be one of the first to reserve your very own cigar locker and humidifier to stash your stogies. In house selections range from the full and robust Padilla Miami (chosen as Cigar Aficionado’s Top Cigar of the Year), to the milder tasting Padilla Habano. The King is Dead: Opens Saturday!

From Urban Daddy:
Miami Knight
The King Is Dead Opens

Let's be honest.
When it comes to nightlife, you're a member of the inner court.
As such, you deserve a club that treats you like a king. Or at least a younger, more handsome Merlin.

Introducing The King Is Dead, a new royalty-themed nightclub (yes, really) opening in the Design District this Saturday.

If Sean Connery and Tommy Lee opened a club, it would look something like this. Located next to foliage-filled Grass (and brought to you by the same owners), the castle-like spot is accessed through medieval wooden doors, setting the tone for the dynastic debauchery within. Inside you'll find a space that is truly committed to its Knights Templar motif, but in all the good ways (think Vegas-style panache) and none of the bad (read: Epcot).

In addition to a 17th-century pulpit that serves as a DJ booth, there are plenty of leather throne-like chairs available for your monarchical exploits. But ultimately you'll want to head into the all-black VIP room, complete with a dungeon-like walk-in shower. We're told it's more of a hangout spot for hired dancers than an actual place to bathe, but you never know...
It's not like the king is going to stop you.

The King Is Dead, opening Saturday night at 11pm, 10 NE. 40th St (between NE. 1st and N. Miami Ave), 305-573-3355

Ceviche 105 Opens in Downtown Miami

From Urban Daddy:
Peruvian Pick

Ceviche 105 Opens

When it comes to Peruvian joints in this city, you can be fiercely loyal. You've got your go-to spots for the perfect lomo saltado, anitcuchos and roasted chicken a la brasa.
But we think it's time for a new contender, one primed to shake up your routine with a few citrus-marinated tricks...
Welcome to Ceviche 105, your new Peruvian spot in downtown.
The gray and white minimalist space is emblematic of the fresh condo buildings in the neighborhood, and the polished concrete floors and geometric light fixtures give the place a tropical-urban feel. There's a semi-open kitchen for food-prep entertainment, but for a little more privacy with your date, you'll want to head to the thin white bar flanked with mod plastic stools.
The menu covers Peru's Pacific waterfront and Andean highlands, with occasional nods to Asia. Choose from half a dozen ceviche concoctions, including the "drunken" Pisco ceviche bathed in the mystic Peruvian liquor. If you're in the mood for fusion, try the chaufa-style seafood rice, similar to Chinese fried rice but with a smoky kick. Or you could stick to your favorites and order what you know.
Nah...
Ceviche 105, now open, 105 NE. 3rd Ave (between NE. 2nd and 1st), 305-577-3484

Cabana One Opens
This session of the Coconut Grove Business Bureau is called to order. Last meeting, we brainstormed ideas to draw crowds to the Grove. Mr. Wiener suggested women in bikinis. Mrs. Wiener suggested alcohol.I’m pleased to announce you’ll find both at Cabana One, which opens softly tomorrow.Atop the Mayfair Hotel, the lounge overlooks Biscayne Bay. The beach set will love the 50-foot pool flanked by queen-size chaises. For those who prefer indoor sports, there are seven private cabanas (complete with flat-screen TVs and Wii access).

No pool party is complete without fruity cocktails, which you’ll find at the 35-foot bar (the Miami Hurricane packs a punch). And, lest we forget, the food: Along with a full raw bar, there’s American fare like coconut shrimp, chicken wings, and burgers.Sure to satisfy young Anna Wiener’s suggestion. Fresh meat.
