Goodbye Summer

As I write this post, it is currently raining on one side of the house.
Yep. Raining in the backyard, not raining in the front yard.
Only in Miami.

This summer went by SO fast. Every inch of every day was meticulously planned out which is exciting, and really isn't as it barely leaves room for spontaneity. But I loved it. I had fun, spent time with great friends, lots of sun, boat days, pool days, bbq's, bike rides and long hot ass walks. Everything summer should be, and luckily for us Miamians..this doesn't really ever end.

But alas, the playing around and extreme laziness must come to a brief halt as we go back to school/college, work becomes "serious" again and Christmas lights need to be unpacked (has anyone else noticed that Santa's Enchanted Forest off of the 826 is already lit up at night...wtf?!)

This all means...I'll be entering the blogging world again. So much going on this week, and the next few weeks...Can't wait until my next serious break..Christmas (which will be here before you know it).

Hope you've all had a wonderful summer..Welcome back to I Heart Miami.

Gardens in Miami

Summertime for us is all about spending quality time with friends and family. We love being out and about in the dreaded nasty sticky heat. On the boat, at the beach, bbq's, days at the park, long bike rides and so on. What I love most is wandering and discovering, taking time out to just think and appreciate everything that we are blessed with, and what better way to do that then by appreciating the tropical gardens in Miami.

Every Sunday for the month of August, Fairchild Tropical Gardens (open 9:30-4:30) will waive their entrance fees. I'm sure the park will be hot and packed, but you should still visit!! Dress comfortably (4" heels and tight ass clothes aren't really going to do you any well here), bring lots of water, and your camera!
Free Sundays in August

The Kampong in Coconut Grove will offer morning guided tours in August
Saturday, August 6, and on Saturday, August 20. Gates will open at 8 a.m. and the two-hour tour begins at 8:30 a.m.

Reservations are required by calling (305) 442-7169. Tour fee is $20 for adults, $15 for ages 62 and over and students with ID, $10 for children 4-12 years, and free for children 3 and under (accompanied by adult)

Pinecrest Gardens still has their Farmer's Market going on Sundays from 9am-2pm, and for $3 you can go inside and check out their beautiful tropical garden!
