The City of Miami has expanded their free trolley service to the Midtown and Design District areas. It's a little weird that there are no stops from Margaret Pace Park until you get to Midtown, so if this is supposed to service all those shiny new towers, and the towers to come....you missed a few stops City of Miami.. 

It's also a bit odd that they don't extend service South to Coconut Grove (Grove Grapevine is upset about this too..see his post) Maybe they will add service once the whole Scotty's/Charthouse tax situation/RFP situation is figured out, but there are some great restaurants, bars and parks that are missed by not having some stops in the Grove..

DWNTWN Arts Shuttle

Tuesday 12/4 until Sunday 12/9: 11am-11pm 

In order to allow easy access to a variety of Art Events taking place during Art Basel Miami Beach, the City of Miami will operate a special trolley route.  The cars will be connecting Midtown, Wynwood, Downtown Miami and through a secondary loop Miami Beach.  Residents and visitors are encouraged to take advantage of this free system an leave your parking and traffic worries at home!

Starting Saturday 7/14, and hopefully every Second Saturday, the Miami Trolley will expand its service to Wynwood and Midtown for Second Saturday Art Walks!

It makes us happy to share all the new park dedications coming up in the Urban Miami area! Over the Memorial Day weekend, we had the dedication of Veteran's Grove at Alice Wainwright Park, and tomorrow, there will be the 1814 Brickell Park Dedication.


The park will memorialize the 9/11 tragedy created from one of the last remaining steel beams unearthed from the ruins of the World Trade Center, donated to the City of Miami by the Port Authority of NY and NJ.

The dedication ceremony, which will run from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, will feature an honor guard comprised of City of Miami Police and Fire department officers. Commissioner Sarnoff plans to acknowledge several community leaders who helped make the 1814 Brickell Park a reality, key among them Miami real estate developer Tibor Hollo and his wife Sheila, whose charitable foundation donated $250,000 to acquire the park land. The dedication ceremony is free and open to the public. We encourage those who plan to attend to come via the new City of Miami Brickell Trolley, which has a regular route that stops in front of the park (more info here!). The family park includes lush landscaped areas, an elevated central grass court and a fenced-in children’s play area.

If you live/work in the Brickell/Downtown area, I'm sure you've seen the new orange and green trolleys rolling about town. The orange and green trolleys are not hustling UM students around town....the trolleys are the new FREE addition to the area! Slowly but surely, we're building a better public transportation infrastructure!


The trolleys have three areas in which they travel around.

• Health District and Health District – Stadium Routes –
  Monday thru Saturday 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM. 
  
  

  Sunday schedule for event days only: 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM
• Biscayne/Brickell Route – Monday thru Saturday  6:30 AM to 11:00 PM
Sunday schedule during Miami HEAT playoff games.
• Starting June 2012: Overtown – Health District Route - 
  Monday thru Friday 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
