THE MOVIE: CHEF

A Chef who loses his restaurant job starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family. 

After talented and dynamic chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) isn’t given the space he needs to shine at his L.A. restaurant due to the owner’s (Dustin Hoffman) rigid traditional ways, he launches on a social media-fueled tirade against his nemesis food critic (Oliver Platt), which lands him without any job prospects. With a new lease on life, Chef Casper moves to Miami with his son and his sous chef (John Leguizamo) to build a brand new food truck business. This smart take on food and chef culture contains poignant messages about the media-driven world we live in and the real meaning of success.

With real heart, Jon Favreau plays a man who must find common ground between his passion for cooking and his love for his son. His direction of an ensemble cast including Sofia Vergara, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Amy Sedaris, and perhaps, most notably, up-and-coming Emjay Anthony, is refreshingly honest and rings true.

THE MENU

Miami has been at the forefront of the explosion of Food Truck Culture with a multitude of delicious offerings, but for this special evening we're partnering up with one of our favorites- the always mouth-watering Los Chamos whose menu of traditional Venezuelan fare is always yummy.

As always we'll keep it casual, you'll pickup your food from the Los Chamos truck stationed right in front of the cinema and you can enjoy it in our recently renovated outdoor courtyard or take it inside with you to eat while you're watching the film. 

Your meal will be a fulfilling tasting of traditional venezuelan fare. Each meal will be served withtequenos, a savory sourdough pastry with cheese filling and a side of spicy guava habanero sauce. You'll enjoy one Arepa and oneEmpanada and can choose from the meat-based or veggie options below:

Seasoned-shredded beef topped with shredded gouda cheese and served on a traditional corn arepa.

Pulled chicken with leeks, ham and paisa cheese.

Malcolm and Sofia, two determined teens from the Bronx, are the ultimate graffiti-writers. When a rival gang buffs their latest masterpiece, they must hatch a plan to get revenge by tagging an iconic NYC landmark, but they need to raise $500 to pull off their spectacular scheme.

Over the course of two whirlwind, sun-soaked summer days, Malcolm and Sofia travel on an epic urban adventure involving black market spray cans, illicit bodegas, stolen sneakers, a high wire heist, and a beautiful, rich girl’s necklace that is literally their key to becoming the biggest writers in the City.

mixture of spices and flavors found along 187th Street.

6 Train Sweet Potato Fries

Our Salt and Vinegar Sweet Potato Fries are just like riding the 6 train into the Pelham Bay Park

Station: a little sweet, a little salty, and a whisper of sour.

Dessert: Big Apple Crumb Cake

We hit a homerun with this Big Apple Cake, created with local cane sugar, our special Bronx Spice Mixture, and finished with Graffiti Writing Crumb Topping.

Mid Movie Snack: Chocolate Sun Pillows

Chocolate and Sunflower Butter may come from two different neighborhoods, but that doesn’t

stop their friendship. We stuff Sunflower Butter inside little chocolate pillows to create a love that

has no boundaries.

Love and Vegetables is a Community pop-up Cafe that operates on a pay-what-you-can basis throughout South Florida. Love and Vegetables’ mission is to feed all in our community with dignity and respect, regardless of means to pay; if guests cannot afford their meal, they are welcome to volunteer their time in exchange. In addition to its healthy, creative, vegan fare, the cafe also offers educational workshops and opportunities to learn about growing, minding, harvesting, and preparing vegetables and vegan dishes.
