I am a huge fan of Etsy.com. It's the dreamy website for art, crafts, antique/vintage, clothes, gifts, jewelry that every woman/girl must know, and love! I love looking for handmade items made in Miami, and love to support our local artists even more. Here are some new local shops to meet and love!

Femme Jolie Store- The CUTEST, handmade Miami bathing suits. Sexy, cheeky and best of all, not crazy expensive. From her pics on Instagram I can see that these suits were a hit at ultra!

Carolina Benoit- Romantic and dreamy creations of dresses and jewelry from a local designer and fashion blogger

Textured Cream Rosettes Shift Dress

Arte Luna- Funky, bright art work from local artist Vivian Estalella. Love her bright colors on unconventional house pieces (love the tostonera below!) and on the usual canvas.

Pink Flamingo Hand Painted Wood Tostonera, Plantain Press Original Design by Vivian Estalella

Lana Bella- Handcrafted soaps, artisanal herbal teas and more. Deliciously yummy!
Karma Whipped Body Butter

For the entire month of April- find Poetry Everywhere!
Fom the air, on your body, at a pop up, upon a soapbox... O, Miami hits our streets.

From "That's So Miami" to poetry on lamp-posts to dance & poetry to
a Miami Literary Trivia Night to poetry films to a flash mob....to Miami's first poetry Parade.

Mark your calendar-
April 1-30 words will take many forms, from the most unexpected places!

What is planned is not a series of dry poetry readings.
The entire month of April will be devoted to poetry in motion, in action, in touch-
bringing forth words in all forms.

Spring Break is synonymous with the Miami Dade County Youth Fair!
(At least if you grew up in Miami! The Fair...Be There...The Fair!)

Packed with hoodrats in spandex, hipsters in skinny jeans, mami's trekking in 4 inch heels, WHY?, and overly excited sugar filled children, the most important part of the Youth Fair is not the rides, but the food!!! Elephant Ears, Funnel Cakes, Cotton Candy, Turkey Legs, Grilled Corn on the Cob, Candy Apples, Arepas and everything else that can kill us, but we are willing to take the chance.

There are also animal farms and exhibition areas displaying proud, winning projects by local students (youth..fair) which are always nice to check out.

Admission is $10 and an additional $25 for Unlimited Rides
(Not so sure about some of these rides...if the operator looks like a crack head..don't ride the ride. Sorry Youth Fair, safety first.)

This is the last week of The Youth Fair.
It runs from Noon-Midnight until Sunday, March 31st
and is located near FIU Main Campus (or the recently renamed Modesto Maidique Campus..when did that change!?)

Not all areas of the gardens are wheelchair accessible and decorated rooms will not be open.

Welcome Back Weekend!
It's been a lazy week for me. Didn't get a chance to post much but there are tons of things going on this weekend. Spring is here! Second weekend of Ultra, so avoid the neon hoochie girls and traffic around Brickell/Biscayne Blvd. Sony Ericsson Open, Taste of Brickell..., Deering Seafood Festival and more.
All I want to do is lay in the sun and catch up on my reading :)

Friday:

Pulse 2.0, New World Symphony 9pm, $25
Much more cooler and interesting than Ultra! The iconic New World Center will transform into a hip lounge-style setting, where theatrically enhanced classical music is interspersed between sets of DJ-spun electronic music, followed by a late-night dance party.

Saturday:

Taste of Brickell Noon-10pm, Miami Circle, $10
I'm going to hope that they have enough food and alcohol to last the entire day. I love festivals. I love food. I love when event management can get things done right. Can't say we've had the best experience in the last year we went to this event...so here's to hoping they got their shit together.

One Day General Admission Ticket $10.00
Two Day General Admission Ticket $15.00
(Food & Beverage Tickets are purchased at Designated Ticket Stations – Food & Beverage samples are priced at between $1-$8. Tickets are in increments of $1.00 and $5.00)

FRIDAY

Have you ever had Prestige beer? Been drawn to the steel drums and the caribbean dance sounds of Haiti? Have you ever eaten diri ak sos pwa, banane peze, tassot cabrit? Probably not...Check out Big Night Little Haiti and I promise you, everything the news tells you about Haiti or Haitians...is ignorant and wrong! Dance/Eat/Drink your heart away. Haiti Cherie ;)

Cool night tonight. Bring your blankets, chairs, snacks and flasks and enjoy The Bourne Legacy in Brickell's Outdoor World Plaza

Every neighborhood in Miami is full of art and culture unlike any other neighborhood. The Bird Road Art Walk is located off the 826/Bird Road in the Art Warehouse District. Long before Wynwood and the Design District, many artists worked out of these inexpensive rent warehouses. 3rd Saturdays of the Month, these artists and galleries open their doors at night to the public.

SUNDAY

St. Patrick's Day
 (Some Free, Some Not)
How many of us will not make it to work on time, or at all on Monday?
Kiss me I'm not Irish. St. Patrick's Day Festivities are pretty self-explanatory. Though, I'm sure not many people know the actual history of Saint Patrick... Drinking debauchery, block parties, every shade of green, and barely any Irish people.
