| Carmelo Arden Quin, Lignes noir, Formee galvee, 1952, enamel on wood, 41 x 18 cm |
| Madí Arden Quin. Bolívar. Bay. Kosice. Llorens. Laañ. Rothfuss. Uricchio. Eight artists that were part of the Madí group. Madí is a modern art movement known for bright colors and bold geometric forms. In architecture, sculpture and painting, Madí art uses abundant circles, waves, spheres, arches, spirals, and stripes. The word Madí may be originated in letters taken from the name Carmelo Arden Quin, the Uruguayan artist who founded the Madí movement in the 1940’s. Or perhaps the term comes from the English word mad, or from the Spanish description of the movement Movimiento Artístico de Invención. The focal point of the Madí movement was a break within the figurative tradition. Some of the most original innovations of this movement were the concepts of invention as an aesthetic artistic method and the irregular or trimmed frame. The leimotiv od the Madí was to break the representation line in art in favor of the idea of presenting the work of art as an object itself, showing its own elements without any further reference to reality. |

Until May 29 Sticky & Sweet. Eurydice, Carl Pascuzzi, Diane Arrieta, Jonathan Stein, Alexis Rodriguez-Duarte and Spunk and The Orange Kittens
The unveiling of the exhibit, which explicitly explores sexual freedom, expression and all related taboos – a-la-Madonna – will be celebrated with an opening reception featuring beats by DJ Johnny the Boy and complimentary cocktails. In a society where sexual liberation often has a tongue-in-cheek political innuendo, “Sticky & Sweet” examines sexuality as a means for personal identity through both self-expression and social labeling. Featured artists Eurydice, Carl Pascuzzi, Diane Arrieta, Jonathan Stein, Alexis Rodriguez-Duarte and Spunk and The Orange Kittens use their craft to shed light on sexuality as it relates to human nature – key elements being ambiguity, eroticism as well as overt and graphic references. |

From May 22 to June 22 CCEMiami presents at the Awarehouse: Mira que lindas! A visual journey through the design of record covers in Latin America.
This show, created and coordinated by Zona de Obras, the company responsible for many of the album covers by master Andrés Calamaro, as well as a long list of Latin American recording artists, is a tribute to the record itself and to the condition of being listened to, observed and felt. The show proposes a visual journey throughout Latin American graphic design exploring the covers of 519 historic contemporary rock albums. It’s a visual adventure far away from charts and ranks. Music to contemplate, full of colors and suggestive surprises that prove that graphic design is in great health in that region. Visual music composed by many generations of designers, photographers and illustrators that are key players on the “Rock in Spanish” concert. |
| Until July 8 Jose Luis Landet. Sesera. Amalia Caputo. Tableaux. 2nd. Floor
Artist Mauro Giaconi wrote the following piece about his friend Jose Luis Landet, with whom he has exhibited in collective shows in Mexico City and Buenos Aires: As if eternally jet lagged from the escape of comfort, the artist returned to the southernmost south and made himself productive. The hardest of laborers, a fearless painter and natural talent that produces without hesitation, he lives as if this were his only truth, creating without a second thought and observing without the slightest fear of ridicule. His work breaks an existing silence with a shout; he knows this and perhaps it is what gives him peace, letting the good deal with the bad. Here is where it gets complicated, where it is meant to be complicated, as he squints and paints the last memory that was lost. A chill runs up and down his spine as the darkness of an idea that has been submerged almost 4 kilometers into his soul re-emerges in his work... – Mauro Giaconi |

"Bottero is ... a poet painter, that is, a painter who uses the medium to convey the poetry of his emotions ..." Donald Kuspit

French based Venezuelan artist Sabrina Montiel-Soto’ Soul Without Face leads us through the internal conflicts of modern man and his lost identity, tells us about the psychology of our era, where our desire to achieve live in a world where the most difficult to find is our natural and vital essence that which we call: soul.
In the words of local filmaker/photographer, Lyndale Pettus:“My photos are interiors and exteriors, daylight and night shots of angles of concrete, steel and glass full of endless repetition mixed with depth, light, and shadows. I have a love of architecture and consider it an attractive subject waiting to pose for my camera.” dimension.

| Marcus Antonius, Jansen, Power and Pandemic, 2010, Oil Enamel Collage on Canvas, 60 x 72 in. |
| Marcus Antonius Jansen. Zeitgeist
Jansen will exhibit large and small-scale works that carry us into the shadows of the 21st century. With a keen awareness of his surroundings, Jansen creates a surreal, urban-like atmosphere filled with subconscious revelations that foretell a future fraught with consequence. Violent brushstrokes, changing textures, and instinctive contrast of color reflect an explosive spontaneity that is the direct, raw effect of emotion.
Noted art historian Jerome A. Donson, who worked with many painters in the past, such as Robert Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline, states, "Jansen's paintings are reminiscent of the Ash Can school. There will be many followers in this style of work, but there will be only one Marcus Jansen." Jansen's intellectually provocative and paradoxical work encourages discourse among viewers. Inspired by political and social events of today, he paints his own interpretations as he tries to separate truth from fiction in a world of increasing disinformation. His paintings ask us to look at the world in a new way and to consider not only our interdependence but also the universal nature of our existence.

Until May 20th Objects of Desire. Rodney Jackson and Caiphus Moore
A unique art movement has emerged combining the dynamic and interrelated worlds of comics, anime and hip-hop, with the elements of modern art. This movement celebrates its multi-cultural, international influence on science fiction, action and adventure and other confluences within and surrounding present day artistic culture. This movement is defined by an inspired, original approach to existing entertainment media that redefines the media itself. In the spirit of this, R. Jackson has coined this new genre “DONŪ” in tribute to the famed hip-hop producer J Dilla whose last work, the magnum opus “Donuts” left an indelible mark on that industry. R. Jackson & Caiphus are pushing DONŪ into the realm of Pop Art. With DONŪPOP they explore the meaning of desire as it relates to spirituality in the context of popular culture. This new work challenges viewers to examine their desires and the reason they exist. Diaspora Vibe Gallery is a multi-disciplinary art space serving as a laboratory for emerging artists of the Caribbean Diaspora and other artists of color, providing them with a contemporary sensibility to explore and experiment with new forms and cultural themes. |

| Andres Monteagudo
|
| Pepe López, Andres Monteagudo and Juan Iribarren A Collective Sum. A collaborative exhibition of Geometric Perspectives by Three Visionary Artists.
Venezuelan artist, Pepe López creates artwork using disposable objects to represent the significance of sustainability. He uses sensible geometrics to demonstrate the physicality and tangibility of objects. Lopez invites us to view his journey and perspective of globalization by playing with representations of commercial society. Spanish artist, Andres Monteagudo’s drawings are linear representations of negative and positive space. His work consists of wires on canvas, which seemingly lead to a tension within space and geometric dimensions. Each line seems to escape the horizon defying the limits of the canvas, making them appear three-dimensional and endless. Juan Iribarren’s vision is to join together the incongruity between atmosphere and geometry in painting. Originally from Venezuela, Iribarren’s work reflects the evolution of contemporary Latin American art. Focusing on diagonals of light and shadows that occur on an empty white wall, which he documents on canvas. By intentionally displaying the paintings diagonally from one another creates a new irregularly shaped format showing the tension of their geometry. |

Although Aboriginal art has only been internationally recognized as a significant movement for the past forty years, its history is long and integral to the work by the present-day artists included in this exhibition. As has occurred elsewhere, the indigenous people of Australia have been marginalized in their own land for much of recent history. Changes began to arise in the 1960’s and 1970’s that served as a catalyst for the discovery by the Western world of the art produced by a multitude of communities located throughout the continent. It is an art based on belief systems unique to Australia, which often refer to the Dreamtime in which creation took place. This Dreamtime involved travels of the creation ancestors, journeys that continue to be followed today along Dream paths that lead to important sites all over the country. In this manner, the art is linked not only to the Aboriginal people and history, but to the land itself. |

Mark “Atomos” Pilon. Sputnik Plunk Mark Atomos Pilon was born under the Northern Lights, in Canada's mysterious north. Perhaps it's a childhood dwarfed by the aurora borealis that made him seek out his alias. After graduating from art school, Mark was researching an art project when he stumbled across a Walt Disney book called "Our Friend the ATOM". The Greek name Atomos leapt out at him. "It means indivisible, or the smallest possible object," Mark explains. "Mystery and science are a good working combination." Now based on the West Coast, he sent his imagination into a future that may never arrive. Every aspect of his art is carefully computer drawn and then meticulously painted in acrylic layers, to give them a sharp, print-like synthetic quality. Mark has worked in magazine design for over 15 years as a designer and illustrator. Today he is one of three creative directors for Vancouver's Georgia Straight Magazine His commercial clients include IKEA, Walgreens, the Sierra Club, and Virgin. He continues to illustrate for magazines worldwide and paints for galleries across North America. His paintings are a natural transition from his editorial illustrations, which are still computer constructed. |

He was a sculptor and painter and is most famous for his op art and kinetic art works. Soto is particularly well known for his penetrables, interactive sculptures which consist of square arrays of thin, dangling tubes through which observers can walk. It has been said of Soto's art that it is inseparable from the viewer; it can only stand completed in the illusion perceived by the mind as a result of observing the piece.
Durban-Segnini Gallery was founded in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1970 and in Miami, USA in 1992, by its present director and owner Mr. Cesar Segnini.
Durban-Segnini Gallery specializes in contemporary painting and sculpture, emphasizing in artists who have worked with abstract expressionism, geometric abstraction and kinetic art.Simultaneously, the Gallery strives to promote and diffuse new artistic values as well as the historical vanguards that have influenced those.

Following Alain Godon's recent visit to south Florida, the acclaimed French artist has a collection of BildoReliefo pieces on exhibit at the godonAmerica gallery. BildoReliefo is an exclusive technique Godon invented that combines the classic form of oil on canvas with 21st Century digital technology. The finished pieces are inspired by his original oil paintings that have been transformed with new colors and deep shadows creating dramatic three-dimensional effects. Cleverly integrated within most of his pieces are humorous caricatures of his wife, his dogs and the artist himself. On exhibit are BildoReliefos from the London, New York and Paris series. June – October During the summer and into fall, the gallery will feature newly acquired pieces by contemporary icons Tom Wesselman, Keith Haring and Ken Sharf, in addition to the BildoReliefos by Alain Godon. |
