Community Q & A on the Knight Arts Challenge

Miami is booming- with construction projects-  and with art.
What is being created is diverse, challenging and fun.
It is because of our artists and their work that Miami is evolving into a city that others are taking a closer look.

A large part of that growth is directly related to the amazing projects funded by a Knight Arts Challenge grant.
Over the past 5 years the Knight Foundation has invested over 20 million dollars in this community-based contest,
funding a wide variety of projects from all points of the county that make Miami, well, Miami.

Because of the KAC, we now have:
  • Sight and sound installations on the New World Symphony wall
  • South Florida Composers Alliance sound installations in public spaces
  • Dance lessons for special needs students
  • Sculpture Garden at the Bass Museum
  •  Everglades Artist-in-Residence
  • Free concerts in our neighborhood parks
  • Cultural Passport for Miami Dade County Public Schools students
  • Weird Miami Bus tours
  • Mentorship for African-American playwrights
  • Living coral as an art form
  • And so many more!

We have launched our 6th open competition for South Florida-based artists to submit their best idea to the KF for a chance to win a Knight Arts Challenge.

Together we can encourage everyone in our community-
be it an individual artist, a non-profit organization-
to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to secure a grant for their idea to see the light of day, and to make Miami an even better place to live.

All it takes is a good idea to be submitted to KnightArts.org between Feb. 4 and March 4.
