Art Basel ::: Day One

And so it begins...

Our first stop last night was a preview of Kris Knight's "Smell the Magic" Exhibition, in collaboration with Gucci's Creative Director Frida Giannini, at Spinello Gallery in the Design District.

Kris Knight is a Canadian born painter who's art explores ethereal sexual/asexual beauty. His idyllic blend of colors on figurative paintings remind you of 18th century romantic impressionism. Kris Knight's paintings inspired Gucci to collaborate with him on a reworking of the iconic Flora Gucci print. Creative Director, Frida Giannini, applied his updated Flora patterns for the upcoming Cruise 2015 season.

 

 

 

 

 

Our second stop of the night was a preview of "Impulse, Reason, Sense, Conflict: Abstract Art from The Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection" at CIFO Art Space in Downtown Miami.

The exhibition is organized from the perspective of Latin American artists and their view of abstraction.
