Slow Art Day
Frost Art Museum, FIU

Art viewing: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Lunch: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
On The Terrace

Host: Miriam Machado

The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum located on the main campus of Florida International University, is proud to host its second Slow Art Day. As a Smithsonian Affiliate, we have world class exhibitions on view. This Slow Art Day is dedicated to the memory of Helen Venero, a dedicated docent, volunteer, and art lover who enthusiastically helped us launch our first Slow Art Day.

Participants will get a chance to “slow down” in our grand galleries with Our America: The Latino Presence in American Art exhibition. Each participant can pick up a visual analysis worksheet at the front desk, if they wish to use it as they are looking. Bring your lunch or purchase one at our nearby food court and then join others on our beautiful terrace overlooking a lake.

Free Parking on Saturdays.

Slow Art Day is a worldwide celebration of art that encourages people to look at art SLOWLY – and thereby experience art in a new way. You can see more about Slow Art Day and the mission behind it on our website: http://SlowArtDay.com.

Taiwan Discovered: In Place and Time continues The Frost Art Museum’s foray into the world of Asian Art. This exhibition will showcase true Taiwanese contemporary artists,” said Dr. Carol Damian, director & chief curator of The Frost Art Museum. “Asia is receiving more attention than any other country in the art world, and Taiwan competes for this attention.“

Taiwan Discovered: In Place and Time, will be curated in-house by Director Carol Damian and Catalina Jaramillo. The exhibition will showcase Taiwanese contemporary artists: mixing traditional and contemporary, Asian and Western, local and international. Taiwan's artists are exploring different approaches and developing their own unique styles through a wide variety of media, from painting and rock art to multimedia installations.
