22nd Annual Kiteober Kite Festival at Haulover Park

The sky over Miami Beach will display a marvelous array of colors and figures from hundreds of kites in the air during the 22nd annual Kite Festival at Haulover Park, 10800 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. Expect to see the 100 foot flying squid, 30 foot flying scuba man, 300 sq foot parafoils. 30 foot flying Nemo Fish 150 foot flying rainbow and more.

Hosted by Miami-Dade Parks and Skyward Kites, these free events feature paper kite building classes & demonstrations from longtime kite enthusiasts. In addition, there will be kite-flying competitions for both children and adults. People of all ages are encouraged to come out to fly their kites, make their own kites for free or purchase an already-made kite. There is no limitation to the size and type of kite. Those who just want to watch can bring a blanket and enjoy the sight of hundreds of kites in the air and some great live music. Food, refreshments and kites will be available for purchase.

The 100-foot squid will fly again over Haulover Park. It and hundreds of other kites, tails, lines and more will stretch into the South Florida skies as part of our 18th year free kite festival  

Skyward Kites and Miami-Dade Parks and Recreations put on the October staple at Haulover Park. This year's event features kite-making classes, demonstrations by experts.  Kite makers from Cuba and Haiti, Pakistan, India, South America and more will have a chance to compete for the honor of highest-flying kite.

The free Kite Day takes place from noon till 5 p.m. Sunday at Haulover Park, 10800 Collins Ave. Miami Beach, 33154

It's a great family activity. Skyward Kites, a kite-selling trailer in the park,  helps put on the annual event. We see many of the same happy families flying their kites here time after time. We will have bounce houses, chalk street drawing, face painting and fun kite flying competitions for prizes.
