Tobacco Road’s 100 Year Anniversary – Saturday November 17th, 2012
with Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Heavy Pets, Iko-Iko, The Spam All Stars, DJ Le Spam, Locos Por Juana, Jay Blues Band, August Campbell, DJ Smooth and more TBA! Hosted by Mark Weiser & DJ Oski.

The Tobacco Road is a bar in downtown MiamiFloridaUnited States. It is the oldest bar in the city. It opened in November 1912, is still in business,[1] and has operated nearly continuously since opening, having been shut down briefly at times for run-ins with the law, such as when the upstairs, now a live music venue, was used as aspeakeasy during Prohibition. Tobacco Road is located at 626 South Miami Avenue, on the south side of the Miami River, putting it in Miami's Brickell district, where it may be classified as a classic dive bar, being popular among locals. Tobacco Road and the surrounding historic buildings were potentially going to be demolished for the construction of Brickell CitiCenter, which is scheduled to begin construction in early 2012, but they will not be, as Swire did not purchase the lots. Tobacco Road will celebrate its 100th anniversary in November 2012. However, in April 2012, an unrelated investor purchased the large riverfront lot which includes Tobacco Road, though it has been stated that Tobacco Road has a three year lease and will remain open for at least that long before the lot is developed.[2]

Yet these memories allowed her to recover from her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks in a way he'd never experienced before. His skepticism eroded further when the patient began to channel messages from "the space between lives" and reveal truths about his dead son that she never could have known. Dr. Weiss has become America's leading authority in past-life regression therapy. In Miracles Happen(HarperOne, $25.99) Dr. Weiss, and his daughter, Amy, share remarkable real-life stories to reveal how past-life regression holds the keys to our spiritual purpose. Miami Transformed

Six-year-old Manuel Diaz and his mother first arrived at Miami's airport in 1961 with little more than a dime for a phone call to their relatives in the Little Havana neighborhood. Forty years after his flight from Castro's Cuba, attorney Manny Diaz became mayor of the City of Miami. When Diaz took office in 2001, the city was paralyzed by a notoriously corrupt police department, unresponsive government, a dying business district, and heated ethnic and racial divisions. Miami Transformed:  Rebuilding America One Neighborhood, One City at a Time (University of Pennsylvania Press, $29.95) chronicles Diaz’s live and his two terms as mayor, which led to Miami’s transformation  into a vibrant, progressive, and economically resurgent world-class metropolis.
