Gator in the Bay
December 4-8, 2013
To raise awareness for the Florida Everglades, Miami-based artist and photographer Lloyd Goradesky created, Gator In The Bay, a colossal floating reptile – a giant 100 yard gator, the length of a football field. You may have caught it last year, if not, look over this December to the waters of Biscayne Bay from the Miami Yacht Club on Watson Island when Art Basel Miami Beach rips into town December 5-8th.
Gator in the Bay will be located at the Miami Yacht Club and is a family-friendly, minimal-cost, FREE to-attend event. There will be something unique to watch and witness each day of the event. Every day will be different and special. We want you to come, bring your friends & family, have fun, enjoy music, eat & drink, and experience a very unique art exhibit.
For over 80 years the Miami Yacht Club has been actively working with our community to foster an appreciation in the beautiful waters of Biscayne Bay. The Miami Yacht Club teaches children, teenagers and adults to sail through our 501C-3 not-for-profit the Miami Yacht Club Youth Sailing Foundation. These classes are open to everyone – not just members of the Club. Miami Yacht Club provides meeting space to many local, national and international organizations including the Emerald Society, Coast Guard Auxilliary, Multihull Association of South Florida and others. The Miami Yacht Club also hosts the City of Miami Marine Patrol and Underwater Recovery Unit.
