Local Universities support Haiti

The University of Miami will stage two events on Wednesday, January 20 related to the recent tragedy in Haiti.

At 6 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at the UM Field House, adjacent to the BankUnited Cener, the Center for Latin American Studies and the Haitian Student Organization will host “L’Union Fait La Force: Coming Together as a People of Haiti.” The community gathering, led by School of Education Associate Professor MarieGuerda Nicolas, with the participation of Father Reginald Jean-Marie, will address strategies to effectively assist Haiti’s quake victims. And later that evening at 8 p.m., the UM community will hold a candlelight vigil for Haiti’s quake at the University Center Rock. Download the printable flyer.

Hope for Haiti: Doing our Part

FIU will be holding a series of events on January 20 to remember the victims of the tragedy in Haiti and show the university community’s solidarity with the Haitian people. A list of times and locations can be found below. Please make sure to attend one or several of these important gatherings.
