We're all somehow managing to drag ourselves out of our warm, warm beds..and somehow managing to put our work faces back on. Ehh..vacation was so much nicer, as usual!! It's actually Winter in Miami. Not 70 degrees either. It's really f-ing cold. I LOVE IT!!!

Well, even though it's Monday, I'm already looking forward to Friday and the rest of the weekend. Perfect weekend to bundle up, walk around, check out some (free) music and art, and keep warm with red wine.

We are kicking off the New Year with some funk. Friday, January 8, 2010 at 5:30 pm the DWNTWN Miami Concert Series is presenting the Miami based band PALO! Their unique and infectious style, textured with exciting beats from the tropics and a touch of some serious jazz, will have the crowd dancing the night away at this free concert at Bayfront Park’s Tina Hills Pavilion.

The New York Post raves “Afro-Cuban Funk is Cuban music for the new generation. And the leader of the sound is the Miami based band PALO!”

It seems as if all the galleries in both the Wynwood and DD area are participating in January's art walk, so there should be lots to see :-)

Bruce McQuiston Sculptures His work combines organic forms with figurative reference and a contemporary flow. The pieces are constructed from hurricane salvaged lumber from the South Florida region. His recent Bronze and Aluminum castings utilize the wood pieces as the source for the mold making Blake Fisher. Photography Fisher was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He started as a commercial photographer yet maintained a love of fine art photography, principally nudes. His work is printed on silver gelatin paper and in limited editions, focusing on the female form as one of the most timeless subjects in photography.
