International Fete de la Musique site
Fête de la Musique began in Paris in 1982 as a new holiday celebrating the summer solstice on June 21st. It has evolved into a global music festival, featuring free music in the streets, fields and concert halls across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Previous year’s local Fêtes have drawn thousands to Miami’s downtown. The festival showcases all styles of music, from traditional and classical to world music, choral and jazz, electronic and new trends. The concerts themselves – always free – range in scale from individual street musicians and club shows to massive carnivals and all-day extravaganzas in open fields and stadiums.
